January 2020 PTA Meeting

Join us on Thursday, January 16, for the next Woodburn PTA meeting.

Date: Thursday, January 16
Meeting topic: Building Literacy at Home, a preview of the PTA’s Raise a Reader activities
Location: Woodburn Cafeteria
Time: 6:45-8pm

Notes: A bus from Fairmont Gardens will pick up at 6:30pm and drop off immediately after the meeting.  Babysitting will be provided.

Agenda
6:45-7pm: Dinner (provided by Silver Diner)
7-8pm: PTA Meeting

Meeting details:
This meeting will feature a reading panel with Mrs. Vinisky (school librarian), Ms. Cortes (reading specialist) and Ms. Castelucci (ESOL lead).

They will discuss how to help support a love of reading at home as well as answers questions parents have about literacy development.

The Raise a Reader event takes place Feburary 21.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Breakfast

Teacher and Staff Appreciation breakfast takes place Tuesday, December 17.

Thank you to all who have offered to support the event, whether by way of food and drinks, and setting and clean up!

Reminders:
Food/drink items should include ingredients list, and be labeled “Teacher Appreciation Breakfast”

2 options for dropping off food/drink items: 
1) drop off your items in the cafeteria at 7:30am on Tuesday 12/17
or 
2) drop off in the office during school hours on Monday 12/16
(non-perishable items in the office, and perishable items in the fridge in the Clinic). 

For those who will help set up, please arrive to school at 7:30am Tuesday, 12/17.
For those who will help clean up, please arrive a little before 9am.

Giving Tree for Woodburn Teachers

The PTA is excited to announce a new Holiday celebration—a Giving Tree for our amazing teachers!    We hope this project will make it easier to meet all of our teachers’ needs and show them how much we appreciate their hard work and the time they devote to our kids!

The PTA worked with Woodburn’s teachers to compile a wish list of items—$20 or less—that they would like for their classrooms or programs. 

Your family will be able to claim a wish list item, buy it, and give the gift to your teacher during your child’s classroom party the week before Winter Break (Dec. 16-20).  If you are buying a gift for a specialist teacher (for example PE, Art, ESOL, Special Education, Music), you or your child can present your gift to that teacher sometime during the week before Winter Break (Dec. 16-20).
