Raise a Reader! at Woodburn on February 14

In celebration of Take Your Family to School Week, the Woodburn PTA and school leadership are hosting Raise a Reader!, an event focused on sharing the joy of reading.

Families are invited to attend a reading hour in their child’s classroom. Guest readers will read a story aloud to students, family members will have a chance to read with their children, teachers will raffle books in each classroom, and tips and reading resources will be available. Reading hours will take place at 10:00 and 12:00. See below for grade level times.

• 10:00 to 10:45 am – Grades 1, 3, 4, 5
• 12:00 to 12:45 pm – Grade K,2, 6

The PTA and Woodburn encourage families to read together at home and share photos on social media using the hashtags #woodburnreads and #raiseareader.

Spanish translation will be available on the day of the event and transportation between Woodburn and Fairmont Gardens will be provided.

The PTA is honored to have a received a $250 grant from the Fairfax County Council PTA (FCCPTA) Family Engagement Awards Committee to support this event!

We will share more information by Facebook, email, and here on our website.

As always, parent volunteers will help make this event a success. The day of the event we need a parent volunteer to help manage snacks for each classroom, as well as other tasks. If you are interested, please contact PTA Secretary Mary Cunningham: marykcunningham@gmail.com
