PTA Seeks Volunteers to Serve on the Principal Selection Panel

Mrs. Chapin is retiring at the end of the year, and the search for a new Principal has begun.  The PTA is responsible for obtaining the names of community members interested in serving on the principal selection panel, which will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at the Gatehouse Administrative Center in Falls Church. We ask that any community member that submits their name as a candidate to serve on the panel confirm they are available for the entire day (7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.) The panel may not take the entire day, but in case it does, we want to be sure all are available for the entire process.

Community representatives should be those who are committed to the principal selection process and the future of Woodburn Elementary School. The panel members should represent the diversity of the school, the various ages/grade levels of children in the school, various programs/activities in which their children are involved, etc.

If you are interested in serving on the panel, please provide your name, contact information, and grades/ages of your children, as well as any programs they are involved in (such as AAP Level IV or ESOL) to Leah DeWolf at ldewolf@gmail.com by Sunday, April 15th, 2018.  If more than 6 community members are interested, we will take a vote via Survey Monkey to narrow the list down to 6.

We Need Your Input on the Principal Selection Process by April 18th

You may seen the message that Mrs. Chapin is retiring at the end of this year.  Fairfax County needs your help in providing input to select the best Principal for Woodburn Elementary School.  Please provide your feedback via this Input Suggestions Form or simply email your ideas to Linda Peace at LLPeace@fcps.edu.   The deadline is Wednesday, April 18th.

At a community meeting on April 11th, Region Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Fabio Zuluaga asked parents to consider the skills a Principal needs to succeed at Woodburn, and also asked us for input on what we hope to see for Woodburn in the future.  All input will be considered.
